This marks the first occasion she has been seen watching McIlroy play live since the Ryder Cup in Rome the previous September.

The pair have weathered their fair share of storms lately. In the run-up to the PGA Championship, McIlroy initiated divorce proceedings in Florida .

He lodged the divorce papers the day after his fourth triumph at the Wells Fargo Championship and a mere three days before the PGA Championship kicked off.

However, by June, McIlroy had addressed the situation, saying: "There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool's game."
