Sabrina Carpenter's reputation is on a swift ascent, yet she's been served a grave caution by a PR expert . Whilst the young starlet, 25, enjoys the limelight and her high-profile relationship with the Saltburn sensation Barry Keoghan , 31, whispers of a split have begun to circulate .

Forced to quash such hearsay on Instagram, the pop sensation rarely addresses her romantic life but once took to cryptically mouthing lyrics from a song in a video online, leading fans to speculate over possible tension .

In one video , as an ending note, she lipsynced the closing bars of Please Please Please, mouthing: "If you wanna go and be stupid / Don't do it in front of me."

This sparked conjecture of a split, quickly dispelled when Sabrina clarified that Barry simply "loved that song". Yet gossips persist, impelling a seasoned PR consultant to offer her perspective on Sabrina's public relations strategy, counseling on how to cope with her celebrity romance and potential break up scenarios.

PR heavyweight Jane Owen provided her professional insights exclusively to the Mirror: "As a publicist working with celebrities, it's always one of the trickiest, most delicate and most challenging parts of the job when you have to 'handle' their relationship press."

"Celebrities are after all human beings and as we all know relationships, even regular ones, are complicated, take work, have ups and downs and sometimes don't work out. Some celebrities manage having a relationship in the spotlight better than others, but in my experience they generally don't like having their private lives dissected and discussed in the press and so as a publicist your job is to help shield their relationship as much as possible, help shield their individual reputations and public image, and give them the best chance to have a relationship, that is allowed to go through whatever its going to go through, without too much outside influence."

Jane continued discussing her approach on advising Sabrina about her current relationship woes, saying: "If Sabrina was my client I would also be very aware that her stock rising in the celebrity world needs to be maintained and protected at all times. Relationships that don't work out can turn ugly and can have negative impacts on the public's perception of that person."

"An extreme example is of course Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Sabrina is on the rise but she's not a worldwide superstar yet and definitely not big enough that she is impervious to being 'canceled' or having her reputation damaged and that negatively impacting her career."

She emphasized that her PR team must shield Sabrina and Barry's relationship, while also ensuring to "remove any risks to her own personal star power". She suggested this could be achieved by being "hyper-aware of what she says on her social media, as well as in any interviews and the images that are released of them together".

Jane outlined a strategy for handling potential break-ups, advising: "If they were to split up, my advice to her team would be to 'Speak First' and 'Speak Loud'. Often times the first thing people read about a situation is the thing they believe. So have a statement ready and waiting - just in case - hopefully you will not ever have to use it, but its better to be ready than not to be."
