Americans will struggle to understand this Irish name when they first read it . However, it is rather sweet. There are many Irish names that are difficult to pronounce .

That is because not many people understand the language from which they originate. The Irish language is vastly different from English and therefore, Irish names have rather unique pronunciations.

One that is heard in Ireland but very rarely in America is Sadhbh. By looking at it, you probably know why.

Sabhdh is perhaps one of the most difficult-to-pronounce Irish names because of its unique combinations of letters. However, the Anglicized version 'Sive' is much easier to understand.

Sabhdh is pronounced as 'sye-v'. So, it's like if you say the English word 'sigh' and add a 'v' sound at the end.
