Oven cleaning is often a task that households dread, especially when it comes to scrubbing the glass door. The more you delay, the tougher those baked-on stains become. But Erin, a guru in natural cleaning and the mind behind the Lemons Lavender and Laundry blog says it doesn't have to be so intimidating.

She's recently revealed an easy cleaning method that can handle even the most stubborn, burnt-on grime without resorting to harsh chemicals. Erin admitted: "I have to admit, I never really paid attention to the inside of my oven door. I simply ignored the fact that baked-on food had been accumulating for years."

She added, "I had never cleaned it in the five years we lived in our house, and let's be honest, I'm guessing the previous owners probably didn't clean it often either. This means I could be dealing with 14 years of greasy, grimy, baked-on food."

She explained her preference for a particular approach: "While there are lots of tips and tricks on how to clean a glass over door, I love this method because it uses one simple, natural ingredient: baking soda."

The secret behind baking soda's effectiveness?

Its high pH level makes it a formidable foe against acidic grease and charred food, offering an abrasive yet gentle solution for dirty oven doors.

Stressing the method's efficiency and lack of toxic substances, Erin shared: "While using baking soda takes a little more time and effort than using an oven cleaner, it certainly does the job; and without harmful chemicals."

All it takes to keep your oven sparkling is some baking soda, a trusty sponge, and a non-scratch scour pad, ensuring you can clean without worries about scratch marks.

Kick off your oven cleaning quest by liberally sprinkling baking soda on the oven glass. Next, moisten a scour pad and work it in circles to make a thick paste of baking soda.

Erin went on to say: "The goal is to cover the entire glass oven door with the baking soda paste. If you find you do not have enough paste, simply add more baking soda and water. If the paste is thick and clumpy, add more water; if it's thin and runny, add more baking soda."

Leave this mixture to sit on the oven glass door for at least 30 minutes for those ovens that are especially grimy, leaving the paste on overnight can produce remarkable results.

When the waiting period is over, dampen the scourer again and start scrubbing gently bit by bit, and you'll see the grime just slide away.

Follow this with a wet sponge to wipe up any remaining bits of the baking soda mix. After putting her own cleaning advice to the test, Erin was astounded by her oven glass looking "like a mirror" and couldn't help but boast about her shiny oven on social media.

She exclaimed with joy: "It's like a mirror! I'd say that was one successful cleaning tip!"
