Epic Games has yet to officially announce a Fortnite live event, but a countdown that appeared on the map this week indicates something big is due to happen this weekend.

The countdown surfaced on the map following update 30.40 - the last one of the season before we usher in Chapter 5 Season 4 . Despite a recent slowdown in Fortnite live events, Chapter 5 has seen a revival, with each season so far featuring an event; Season 1 had the Pandora's Box event, Season 2 brought the Sandstorm event, and now Season 3 is concluding with an event this weekend.

However, the Fortnite live event won't coincide with the end of Season 3 that's scheduled for next wee k and has actually been moved up, ending slightly earlier than expected. And while there's no official word on what the Fortnite live event will involve, leakers and data miners have dug up plenty of hints to give us an idea of what's coming and the map changes post-event.

So when is the Fortnite live event?

The Fortnite live event is set for 7pm BST / 2pm EDT / 10am PDT on Saturday, August 10. This timing comes courtesy of the in-game countdown that will hit zero at this exact moment, reports the Mirror US .

Unless Epic decides to delay or posts an update or tweaks the clock this is when you need to be online.

The countdown to the Fortnite live event is now visible on the map, with a holographic timer projected at Brutal Beachhead. This location was introduced this season when the ship crashed into the island.

You might have spotted the Nitro pipeline from Redline Rig inching closer to the Leviathan ship, hinting at what's in store for the Fortnite live event.

So, what can we expect from the Fortnite live event?

Chapter 5 Season 3 saw the Nitro-fuelled Leviathan ship crash land on the island, and Megalo Don has been directing his minions to establish a pipeline from Redline Rig to the ship to get it up and running again. The Nitro pipeline was completed as of update 30.40 this week, and a countdown appeared on the map signalling the Fortnite live event.

Twitter leaker @Hypex gave us a sneak peek last month, sharing a video of the pipeline, Nitro gauges, and fuel flowing through the pipes. As for what will happen when the Leviathan's tanks are full, it seems Pandora's Box will make an appearance, with @ShiinaBR sharing a video of the unearthed chest on the map.

In the world of Marvel tie-ins and the eagerly awaited return of Doctor Doom (teased in those Fortnite roadmap leaks back in April, remember?), the mysterious Wanderer has fans buzzing that he's none other than the sinister doctor himself. In-game clues have become impossible to ignore, with NPCs noticeably dropping the word 'doom' more frequently.

Fortnite detective @Wensoing hit up social media with leaked Magneto voice lines, sparking rumours that Doctor Doom's arrival is imminent. Whispers are also circulating about the Wanderer's white cloak being a tribute to a legendary Doctor Doom outfit from the comic books, though I'm not entirely sold on that theory.

Epic Games isn't keeping fans guessing, dropping a bold hint about what's next post-live event, as tweeted by @FN_Assis: "The dust settles and the Wanderer approaches, but Hope's destiny extends far beyond the edges of the Wasteland. Consult the Oracle and learn your fate...."

Regarding changes to the Fortnite map, early talk points to minor tweaks rather than major overhauls, with all eyes on Pandora's Box for another round in the spotlight. A sharp-eyed Redditor even posted a snapshot capturing the latest developments.
