Controversial boxer Imane Khelif makes defiant gesture during closing ceremony

The controversial Algerian boxer Imane Khelif made a defiant gesture during tonight's Olympics Closing Ceremony, after what has been a rollercoaster few weeks for her.

Throughout the Olympics, all sorts of allegations were made about Khelif, with some extremely high-profile names questioning her gender, including JK Rowling.

Despite evidence showing that Khelif was in fact a woman , many still felt as though it was unfair that she competed at the Olympics. She went on to win gold, and celebrated passionately at tonight's ceremony .

As she celebrated with her gold medal, the camera panned up close to Khelif, and she smiled and blew a kiss to those watching at home.
