Trent Alexander-Arnold has praised Fabio Carvalho as the forward departs Liverpool for Brentford. The deal could potentially reach £27.5 million with add-ons, and Liverpool have also included a 17.5 percent sell-on clause.

Alexander-Arnold has shown his support for the 21-year-old's move to west London, while his own future at Liverpool remains somewhat in doubt .

On Instagram , Alexander-Arnold responded to the news of Carvalho's departure by writing: "Good luck little bro" and included a heart emoji.

Carvalho has previously shared that he and Alexander-Arnold have become "really close" during his time at Liverpool.

"I'm his little bro," Carvalho told Rising Ballers last month. "I'd probably say Trent [is his closest friend at Liverpool]. Harvey [Elliott] I've known since we were young, but I've gotten really close with Trent. He's just a great footballer and I've learnt a lot from him."

Despite this, Carvalho found it difficult to secure regular game time at Liverpool and had loan spells at RB Leipzig and Hull City. Now at Brentford, Carvalho will be hoping to fulfil his potential under head coach Thomas Frank, who is a big admirer of the player, reports the Mirror .

"Fabio is a player with a lot of qualities," Frank told club media. "He can play in all of the front three or four positions in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. His best position is probably as a no.10 or coming in from the left."

The newcomer's on-field prowess didn't escape praise, with comments noting: "Offensively, he has great abilities on the ball: he can go past players, slide a pass, create chances and get on the end of chances. He's a type of player that we don't have many of in the squad so he will add that something extra for us."

"His off-ball efforts were not overlooked either, as it was mentioned: "His ability and mentality to work hard in the pressure is also very, very good. That's along with him ticking all the boxes from a cultural perspective and being the right character. So we're very pleased to see him come in and push the team forward."

Eager for a new chapter at a club where he feels "loved", Carvalho expressed excitement about his future, saying: "I spoke to the manager and, from the first conversation that we had, I just knew I was going to come in and be excited about playing for the club, coming in every day and working with him."

And with a determined spirit, he declared: "I just want to play football now and to do that in the best league in the world. As a player, you want to go somewhere where you're wanted and somewhere where you're loved - that's why I'm here."
