Stephen Colbert humiliated by audience's mocking laughter as he calls major news network 'objective'

Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert sent his audience into fits of laughter when he said CNN is objective.

Colbert sat down with CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins last night , to discuss the presidential race, her reaction to Biden dropping out of the race and a busy summer of politics.

During the interview, Colbert began a question by saying, “I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is…”

Colbert was almost instantly interrupted by laughter from the audience who assumed the host was joking, and poking fun at well-known claims that the news channel has a left-leaning-bias. Noticing the audience’s reaction, Collins responded, “Is that supposed to be a laugh line?”

A slightly embarrassed-looking Colbert tried to defend his words but replied, “It wasn't supposed to be, but I guess it is.”

Collins also spoke about how Trump’s outlandish behavior has taken a backseat in global headlines lately, as the public are more excited about Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.

“You predicted this, I don’t know if you remember,” said Collins, giving Colbert full credit for a statement he made a month prior. “But I did my research and you predicted that if Harris became the nominee that there would be a lot of enthusiasm behind her, and Donald Trump would not be able to break into the headlines. And that’s where he is right now.”

She added that Trump seems a little lost on how to approach Harris and her campaign, after years of targeting Biden and learning his weak points.

“He really has struggled with how to go after someone who's 20 years younger than him, who is a different gender, a different race,," Collins said. "It's kind of been this moment where he has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line.”
