Viewers of the Olympics were less than thrilled to hear Jimmy Fallon’s voice commentating on the Closing Ceremonies.

The Tonight Show host partnered with sports commentator Mike Tirico to emcee the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday. Many fans were looking forward to the event, which featured Tom Cruise rappelling into Paris’ Stade de France in a dramatic entrance.

Many praised NBC for their coverage of the Olympics this year, especially with the choice of Snoop Dogg as the official ambassador at the games. When the network brought on Fallon, however, fans criticized the decision .

Some took to X to share their frustrations. Some said everything was going well until they decided to bring on Fallon.

One person said: “After everything NBC and Peacock did right with presenting the Olympics, they’re throwing it all away by subjecting us to Jimmy Fallon during the closing ceremony.”

“I've been spoiled watching the Olympics on the BBC for the past two weeks; everyone on NBC's broadcast of the Olympic closing ceremony needs to shut the ---- up forever, especially Jimmy Fallon. Christ, we don't need a million voices spewing inane bullshit all the goddamn time.”

Another wrote: “Watching Jimmy Fallon in this closing ceremony is genuinely painful and detrimental to my health, please bar him from public appearances in the future.”

One particularly awkward instant occurred when Fallon asked Katie Ledecky if she intended to “swim home” from Paris. Fans found it strange that Fallon interviewed the Olympians as they were walking into the event.

A viewer said on X: "If I was a flag bearer representing my country at the Olympics and they were forcing me to talk to Jimmy Fallon instead of enjoying the moment I would say the c word on live national television."

Some people worried what this could mean for the Summer Olympics in 2028, which will take place in Los Angeles .

“Based on the Closing Ceremonies, it appears Jimmy Fallon will play a large role in the 28 Summer Olympics. I'll pass. Intolerable.”
