Prince Harry's new top aide has quit the job after just three months, with the reason for his departure now made public .

Josh Kettler, an experienced PR guru, took the position just before the Duke of Sussex undertook a three-day visit to Nigeria with Meghan Markle in May.

Kettler was also spotted with Harry at St Paul's Cathedral during his most recent trip to London for an Invictus Games tenth-anniversary service.

Yet, it appears that Kettler has quit his role which he reportedly took on to "guide him [Harry] through his next phase".

Reports say that Kettler's exit was 'mutual' with PEOPLE magazine revealing he was taken on a trial run and that "both sides agreeing it wasn't the right fit". Kettler, who used to be chief of staff and head of strategic partnerships for communication platform Cognixion and had worked for outdoor outfit Patagonia, was living in Santa Barbara, not far from the Sussexes' Montecito residence.

The news follows a Daily Mail report that Harry and Meghan have seen nine members of their team leave since relocating to California . A former staffer reportedly said: "What may be most telling is that the entire time I worked there, I don't think I heard a single current or former employee on their staff say they would take the job again if given the chance."

"These aren't employees they had just found off the streets. Many of them are people who had previously excelled working for demanding bosses in high-performance companies and environments."

Ahead of Harry and Meghan's 'royal-style' tour to Colombia, news has emerged about Mr Kettler's departure. The couple were invited to visit the South American country by its vice president, Francia Marquez.

The pair will be visiting Bogota, the capital city, as well as the coastal regions of the country. Ms Marquez, a lawyer and activist for human rights and the environment, stated: "During their trip, the duke and duchess will join me in visiting Bogota, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali."

"In these vibrant locations, they will have the exceptional opportunity to engage with leaders, youth and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress. In addition to these meaningful interactions, the duke and duchess will experience the rich heritage of Colombia."
