Nottingham Forest star Danilo has dropped a hint to Erik ten Hag amidst rumors of a potential transfer to Manchester United .

The Brazilian, who only joined English football last year, quickly became an integral part of Forest's squad, contributing significantly to their Premier League survival last term.

His standout performances have drawn the gaze of United and AC Milan, both clubs eager to bolster their midfield options in the upcoming transfer window.

Reports suggest that Danilo could be snapped up for £34 million, a sum Manchester United is reportedly willing to shell out.

Ten Hag has made no secret of his demand for high standards from his squad, emphasizing the need for players with "great mentality" and the ability to "perform under stress", qualities Danilo asserts he honed at Palmeiras in Brazil.

In a chat with The Athletic, Danilo reflected: "What I learned from all the managers was the value of remaining grounded - particularly from Abel Ferreira (who is still head coach of Palmeiras). He gave me my opportunity. He told us to have cold heads but always warm hearts. He told us to block out the noise and just focus on playing."

Danilo also showcased his ambition by expressing his desire to see Forest reach the heights of Brighton and Aston Villa, teams that have secured their spots in the upper echelons of the league in recent years.

In May, Ten Hag outlined his requirements for new signings, stating: "I think every manager wants players with winning attitudes and a great mentality, big personalities to perform under stress. In this club it's extremely important to perform under stress."

Ten Hag's search for players with a strong work ethic appears to align with Danilo's style, and a move could be on the cards if negotiations with PSG over Manuel Ugarte stall.

Although United have agreed personal terms with the Uruguayan star, they are refusing to budge from their £42.5m limit, while PSG are holding out for £51m.

Danilo is reportedly one of several alternatives on United's shortlist, alongside Frenkie de Jong, Burnley's Sander Berge, and AS Monaco's Youssouf Fofana.
