Many people turn to social media to get this boost , and TikTok is no different. There are sayings and phrases in so many languages that can be found on the social media platform , including the Irish language.

Irish can convey a range of emotions, from anger and happiness , to bitterness and joy. But what about perseverance?

An Irish language TikToker recently shared a moving slideshow of phrases as Gaeilge that she believes could be tattoo ideas. In a wider sense, they can provide words of encouragement for those maybe experiencing a slump.

'De réir a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin' means 'Rome wasn't built in a day' - an expression many English and Irish speakers will be familiar with, but translated into the Irish language , it appears and sounds strikingly beautiful.

Users agreed. One woman wrote: " I'm an American learning the Irish language just because it's beautiful and I don't want it to disappear."

A second penned: "I've been trying to learn Irish for years from the US . I've been using Duolingo for about a month now. Such a beautiful language."
