Peaky Blinders counts many famous faces among its fandom , from Barack Obama to Julia Roberts. There is one perhaps unassuming celebrity, though, who has watched every episode , and that is American rapper Snoop Dogg.

In fact, the musician has revealed that the award-winning series made him reflect on his personal life , and one aspect of it in particular, that he feels is portrayed particularly well in the show.

Peaky Blinders, which follows gangster and businessman Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy , came to an end in 2022 after a six-season run. It is being made into a movie due for release next year .

Speaking to BBC's Desert Island Discs, creator Steven Knight opened up on the conversation he had with the Drop it Like it's Hot star, who said the show reminded him of “how he got into gang culture”.

“It was all about family keeping you in, and escaping from family to do the bad stuff , and then the family relocating their emotions and loyalties to follow you, and then escaping again,” the 64-year-old explained.

“It made me understand that there is something in Peaky that is pretty universal . He was such a great bloke. He was so nice to talk to.”

Knight, who is launching a new drama based on the Guinness family, said Snoop's comment made him realize the show's cultural reach , which has "people from Eastern Europe to Buenos Aires getting it and feeling the same thing.”

The 64-year-old has already informed fans that the budget for the Peaky film was "bigger" and would be "a huge step up".

Speaking to NME, Knight said: "Because we know we're ending this chapter , we're all going to try to do our best. Cillian is really up for it."

Reflecting on Murphy's Oscar success earlier this year , Knight went on: "Isn't it amazing? I'm so pleased for him because he deserves it.
