Four individuals have been apprehended in Los Angeles, California, accused of the brutal murder of General Hospital star Johnny Wactor during an attempted car part theft.

Robert Baceleau, Leonel Gutierrez, and Sergio Estrada are facing murder charges, while Frank Olano is being charged as an accessory to murder, according to police reports cited by the BBC. On May 25, the soap opera actor was shot after finishing his bartending shift at a downtown Los Angeles bar.

He was approached by three individuals as he walked to his car, having left the bar with a female colleague around 3:25 am that Saturday. The group had lifted Johnny's car using a floor jack and were "in the process of stealing the catalytic converter," stated the Los Angeles police, as reported by the news outlet, reports the Mirror US .

One of the aforementioned suspects shot Johnny without any provocation and left him to die, added the police. Johnny's brother Grant told the Los Angeles Times that the entertainer was "one of the most charismatic people he knew."

The producers of General Hospital paid tribute to Johnny, describing him as "truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day." Paramedics rushed to the scene, but Johnny was pronounced dead at the hospital. Around the time of his death, Grant spoke to the Daily Mail about how Johnny conducted himself in the last hour of his life.

"We're Southern, born and raised, and we would never let a female walk to their car by herself," he said to the news team. The news that those alleged to have caused Johnny's tragic end are likely in custody will assuredly be welcomed by Johnny's former partner Tessa Farrell. Shortly after the incident which led to Johnny being fatally shot, his past actress girlfriend expressed her sorrow on social media with an emotional video.

In her tearful message, she declared: "If the person who did this, if you're watching, I'm sorry, but you shot the wrong guy. You can get a real job. I know the job market's hard but we're all in it together." She went on to assert: "You don't have to steal - especially take a life over it."

Tessa mentioned that "human life is disregarded too easy" and called for change within the community, suggesting: "Maybe that's what Johnny's gift is for us, maybe he's gifting that to all of us."
