American parents will adore this Irish version of the popular name David . Oftentimes, the Irish language has a version of a popular name that is arguably much nicer to say.

That is certainly the case with the name David. Most people know this moniker, which is a classic boys' name with Hebrew origins.

Currently, the name David is the 37th most popular name for baby boys born in the US. It is also a popular name around the world, especially in the English-speaking world.

However, there is an Irish version of this name that is popular in Ireland but never really heard in the US. The Irish version of the name David is Daithí.

Daithí is pronounced 'daw-hee' and means 'beloved' or 'swift'. In Ireland, Daithí was a relatively popular name for baby boys born in 2023 .

Daithí was the 75th most popular name for baby boys born in Ireland last year, tied at that spot with the name Frankie. In total, it was given to 78 baby boys born in the country in that year.

Daithí isn't the only example of an Irish version of a popular name that often looks and sounds much nicer. One of the trendiest names in Ireland last year for baby boys was Páidí , a unique Irish language take on the classic name Paddy, short for Patrick.

Meanwhile, examples of Irish names for girls that are much nicer than their more popular Anglicized versions include Nóinín, which means Daisy , and Róisín, which means Rose .
