Cillian Murphy may have won his first Oscar for his role in Oppenheimer , but film experts are raving about his role in another Christopher Nolan movie .

Murphy plays Robert Fischer in Leonardo Di Caprio's blockbuster Inception, and a review by ScreenRant has dubbed the performance woefully underrated and rated it among Murphy's best ever roles .

Dubbed "criminally overlooked", the movie owes its success to Murphy's "emotional depth".

And the experts are ScreenRant aren't the only people to think so. Variety ranked it as his best performance, dubbed it "divine" and "the most affecting gut-punch (Nolan has) ever delivered, thanks largely to Murphy’s beautiful performance."

IndieWire has also rated it among Murphy's top 10 performances, as had Fall Out Magazine .

Nolan's 2010 film Inception is a mind-bending exploration of dreams within dreams, a cinematic puzzle that has captivated audiences and critics alike.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Dom Cobb, a master extractor haunted by his past and desperate to return to his children. Cobb is offered a chance at redemption when a wealthy businessman, Saito (Ken Watanabe), proposes a seemingly impossible task: instead of stealing an idea, Cobb must plant one in the mind of a rival businessman, Robert Fischer Jr. ( Cillian Murphy ), via the process known as "Inception".

Cillian Murphy's role as Robert Fischer Jr. is pivotal to the plot of Inception.

The inception team’s goal is to plant the idea in Fischer’s mind that he should dissolve his father’s empire, thus giving his rival Saito a competitive edge in the business world.
