US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau has lauded the LIV Golf series for its focus on community benefits ahead of his defence at Greenbrier.

He previously set a LIV Golf record with a 12-under par 58, securing a six-stroke victory, and hasn't been shy when it comes to discussing the Saudi-backed breakaway league .

However, in the run-up to the tournament, DeChambeau chose not to dwell on his past success but instead highlighted the positive impact the tour is having off the links .

Speaking on Wednesday at the pre-tournament press conference, he commented on how the community's perception of LIV has evolved: "I'm staying at a friend's house this week, and it's been awesome to see the change from individuals around the community around here. Not only the respect but the understanding. I think there's a difference of understanding of what we're trying to accomplish."

He continued to stress the intention behind LIV Golfs presence and activities: "It's not a one-off thing or whatnot. It is here to stay, and we're here to provide great entertainment, here to inspire, and hopefully educate people on a new format that is going to keep them interested throughout every single shot that we hit."

DeChambeau also expressed his delight at seeing firsthand the positive changes LIV Golf has brought to local communities such as Greenbrier: "I think that's what's so cool and the impact we can make in the community, too, seeing how much we have done for Greenbrier. And being able to help out this community on a whole other level is what LIV is all about."

LIV Golf is marking their 100th round this week, and star golfer DeChambeau expects the series to "explode" soon. He points to his performance at last year's Greenbrier as a key moment, restoring his confidence after some hard years.

DeChambeau faced challenges with form following wrist surgery in April 2022, and a second operation in December that year fixed lingering vertigo issues that kicked in around the 2020 Masters.

Snagging a major win last June after nearly four years, DeChambeau built on his 2020 US Open victory. With his game improving dramatically, he feels primed to break his own astounding score of 58.
