Stephen Colbert's disgusting incident in restaurant parking lot revealed ahead of DNC

Late Show host Stephen Colbert has long had history in the Chicago comedy scene but he's hoping to redeem himself at one venue in particular after a disgusting incident that occurred on his last visit .

Colbert - who was forced to apologize for mocking Kate Middleton ahead of her revelation she was seeking treatment for cancer - is scheduled to present his nightly CBS talk show from Chicago this week as the Democratic National Convention hits the windy city. However, while he is there he's hoping to revisit some of his old haunting grounds including the infamous Wieners Circle restaurant.

A social media post from the popular eaterie detailed how this isn't his first time visiting - and the vile thing that happened last time he did. They wrote on X: "After throwing up in our parking lot in 2019, as told by Amy Sedaris on ⁦@SmartLess⁩, ⁦@StephenAtHome⁩ redeemed himself today. Watch us on his show Monday night!"

The venue also shared a picture of him seated at a bench outside. Colbert and actress and comedienne Amy Sedaris were both members of The Second City’s touring company in the 90s. The pair have worked together on several projects over the years, including “Strangers With Candy.”

Appearing on the Smartless podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes in 2021 Sedaris told a story about a late-night visit to Wieners Circle with Colbert.

She said: “He threw up once in the parking lot of The Wiener Circle, where he had to take his tie aside and vomit. He was drinking, and he got something to eat at The Wiener Circle, and he threw up in the parking lot, which is so out of character for him.”

Colbert’s return to the Wieners Circle will air on Monday night’s edition of The Late Show. He has been busy filming on location in Chicago and visited Wrigley Field over the weekend as the Chicago Cubs took on the Toronto Blue Jays.

The news comes after Colbert sent his audience into fits of laughter when he said CNN is objective. He sat down with CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins last week to discuss the presidential race, her reaction to Biden dropping out of the race and a busy summer of politics.

During the interview, Colbert - who didn't know about his surprising Irish heritage - began a question by saying, “I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is…”

He was almost instantly interrupted by laughter from the audience who assumed the host was joking, and poking fun at well-known claims that the news channel has a left-leaning bias. Noticing the audience’s reaction, Collins responded, “Is that supposed to be a laugh line?”

A slightly embarrassed-looking Colbert tried to defend his words but replied, “It wasn't supposed to be, but I guess it is.”
