Joe Rogan had admitted to being a fan of Peaky Blinders , namely Cillian Murphy's portrayal of troubled gangster Thomas Shelby.

The six-season show by creator Steve Knight wrapped up in 2022 but is now being made into a film, with the Oscar winner reprising his lead role alongside several other familiar face as well as new stars .

The series is a favorite among celebrities including Julia Roberts and Snoop Dogg . Now, Joe Rogan, host of The Joe Rogan Experience, has waded into the drama's popularity, and waxed lyrical about Murphy's performance .

Peaky Blinders is great, dude ," Joe said on the recent JRE Companion Show. "I’m on season 4 now. It’s good dude, it’s good. Cillian Murphy , that guy is a beast."

To some in the US, Murphy was arguably plucked from obscurity when he was picked to play the mastermind of the atomic bomb in Oppenheimer , which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor, the first for an Irish-born actor.

“He’s great in Oppenheimer," Rogan went on. "The guy’s got such range… A guy who can play a gangster and a nuclear scientist . That’s range."

Rogan has already heaped praise on Peaky Blinders, telling guest Jack Carr in a previous episode: “ I just started watching Peaky Blinders . It’s great!"

"A lot of friends have been telling me, ‘You got to watch Peaky Blinders,’ and Jamie keeps telling me I got to watch The Wire, and that’s next. The Wire’s next, but I got to get through Peaky Blinders. Peaky Blinders is great.”

It seems Rogan got wind of Murphy through a zombie movie he starred in more than 20 years ago . 28 Days Later, a British post-apocalyptic survival horror film directed by Danny Boyle, featured Murphy on the big screen as Jim.

Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed the news in an interview with Deadline recently that the Cork native's character would return but in a "surprising" way .

“You ever see ’28 Days Later’, the zombie movie?" Rogan previously asked. "Best zombie movie ever… That first one is amazing."
