Meghan Markle sent a sweet nod to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana , during her and Prince Harry's almost-royal tour in Colombia, according to a style guru.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in the South American nation for four days at the behest of Colombian VP Francia Marquez and got the thumbs up from scores of Royal enthusiasts .

In Colombia, Harry and Meghan's itinerary was filled with engagements focusing on key issues such as young people's mental health, supporting veterans, combating cyberbullying, championing women's empowerment, and celebrating Colombia's vibrant culture.

Now, a fashion expert has suggested that two of Meghan's fashion picks could have been more than just style statements particularly her selection of a piece from the late Princess Diana's jewelry collection and her preference for Colombian designers.

Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred, spilled the beans to Express.co.uk: "Apart from clearly wanting to show off her [Meghan's] fashion and styling creds, we saw a few lovely touches that may have been trying to send a message."

"For example, a nod to the late Princess Diana. On day 2 whilst visiting Colegio La Giralda she was spotted wearing a pair of gold butterfly earrings that used to belong to Princess Diana."
