    Incredible Irish mountain that remains a hidden gem for many tourists

    There is a magnificent mountain in Ireland that not many tourists know about . However, those who discover it are blown away by its unique shape and its surrounding natural beauty.

    Co Sligo is perhaps one of the most underrated counties in Ireland . Located on the famous Wild Atlantic Way , Sligo is an area that doesn't get much of the spotlight.

    However, there are some great things to do here as well as amazing coastal and mountainous scenery. Perhaps Co Sligo's most notable landmark is the magnificent Benbulbin Mountain.

    This fascinating landmark is a flat-topped nunatak rock formation in the Dartry Mountains. It is located in the area that is lovingly referred to as Yeats Country.

    Benbulbin is like nothing else in Ireland, with its unique flat top. while exploring the area, you will walk past glacial tracks, quaint streams, and wild gullies. The best way to experience this place is by completing the Benbulbin Loop Trail.

    Not only will this trail offer you the best views of Benbulbin, but you will also see places like Sligo Bay and even Co Donegal in the distance. Plus, you can visit the grave of beloved Irish poet W.B. Yeats at Drumcliffe Cemetery at the base of the mountain.

    To start the walk, park at Luke’s Bridge, which is located 5km north of Drumcliffe. A number of tourists from around Ireland and across the globe have experienced Benbulbin and many of them have had overwhelmingly positive things to say.

    On Tripadvisor, one visitor said: "What a monolith! You can’t help but be amazed at Benbulb which dominates the county and the little villages and towns that rest under its shadow."

    Another wrote: "This walk will not disappoint! The views are spectacular! At about 5km, this is an easy walk and will give you spectacular views of Benbulben and the surrounding area."

    Meanwhile, one past visitor advised: "If you are planning to hike to the top, I would recommend staying at the Benbulben Farmhouse B&B as they have private access to the mountain right from their location. It was an affordable accommodation with great breakfast.

    "The views from the top are stunning - even on a cloudy day. Your shoes and socks will most likely be soaked by the time you are done, so plan accordingly. It took us about 3 hours to go up and back down. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the top though."

    Over on Reddit, many people agreed when one person wrote: "Benbulben should be more famous than it is, it’s phenomenal."

    "Our country is fierce beautiful in places," one person said in agreement. Another wrote: "That part of Sligo is stunning."
