Ben Affleck gets awkward shoutout from Mindy Kaling at DNC

Actress and comedian Mindy Kaling made a public joke about Ben Affleck’s private life at the Democratic National Convention last night.

Both actors are from Massachusetts , which Kaling shouted out in her speech. She took the opportunity to poke fun at the troubling time Affleck is having in the media , as he goes through a very public divorce with wife Jennifer Lopez - which fell on a particularly tough date for the actor.

“I love you, Massachusetts!” Kaling said. “Everyone is always hating on us, but they just don’t get it. Go Sox! Go Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck… hang in there.”

The crowd erupted into laughter as she added: “Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world.”

Earlier this week, Affleck and Lopez filed for divorce after months of speculation that they had split. The pair have had an on-and-off relationship throughout their lives, first dating in 2002, getting engaged in 2003 and splitting in 2004. They rekindled their romance in 2021, almost 17 years later, and announced their split this week.

Red flags were raised when reports emerged that the Hollywood power couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement when they tied the knot back in 2022. Mindy Kaling’s joke was an obvious jab at Ben Affleck’s role in the media storm, as he has appeared unhappy in public for some time now.
