Prince William and Princess Kate relocated to Windsor about two years ago, settling into a home that is relatively modest by Royal standards. However, insiders have suggested that the couple has been quietly contemplating ways to enhance their domestic life and upgrade their lifestyle as a family of five.

Adelaide Cottage, situated on the Windsor Home Park estate, is a four-bedroom property that pales in comparison to the Wales family's previous primary residence - a grand apartment in Kensington Palace. Yet, when they moved, it was reported that Kate and William were eager for more privacy for their three children , George, Charlotte, and Louis, than their London home could provide.

They also wanted to be closer to the late Queen Elizabeth. The four-bedroom property doesn't have sufficient space for live-in staff , allowing the Wales family to enjoy a great deal of privacy and quality time together since their significant move to Windsor. This would have been particularly beneficial during what has been a challenging year for them.

In March, Kate revealed in a heartfelt video message to the nation that post-operative tests following major abdominal surgery had shown that "cancer had been present." She was advised to undergo preventative chemotherapy, which she recently started, reports the Mirror .

She also announced that she'll be stepping back from the public eye to focus on her recovery and has asked for privacy for her family as they tackle this health issue together. It's been whispered - as reported by the Express - that in light of Kate's health struggles, the couple have been discreetly considering ways to enhance their residence and lifestyle.

"Nobody knows that there is quite a spacious red-brick annex building that's not being used next door to Adelaide Cottage. It's currently inhabitable and needs extensive renovation works if it were to be used. Discussions have been ongoing for a while about using the property as part of the overall cottage grounds, but it's just about finding the right time to kick the project off," an insider alleged.

The informant continued, "William is very conscious of the public scrutiny over the Royal Family's spending habits, so he is looking at the best way to cover any renovation costs. It's a project that's very much been put on the back burner for now due to the family's unfortunate position, but it will be looked at again when the time is right."

The family is reportedly over the moon with their Windsor abode, which they "adore", and they also frequently retreat to their Norfolk home - Anmer Hall, close to King Charles's Sandringham estate - during school breaks.
