Belfast rap group Kneecap revealed the Irish film they feel is underrated in a recent interview. The group is currently promoting their debut, self-titled film.

The rap-trio sat down with Letterboxd to discuss their four favorite films . Each member had a different answer but one film mentioned by Moglaí Bap, instantly garnered a response from his bandmates.

“My number one favorite movie of all time is Sing Street,” he said.

Instantly, the other two members of Kneecap laughed, but Moglai Bap stood by his answer.

“You can watch this movie when you’re hungover. It’s got some lovely songs in it.”

He gives a brief rundown of the plot saying, “It’s about a group of teenagers who start a band in the 80s. And they’re tryna make it. And I think they do in the end.”

The internet seems to share his love for Sing Street, as the film has an incredible 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience reviews refer to the film as a "classic" and "coming of age masterpiece." The movie features some of Ireland’s greatest actors like Aidan Gillen and Jack Reynor, as well as some young actors whose breakout roles were in the Dublin-based film.

Sing Street has received adequate praise in Ireland since its release in 2016, but had a lesser impact in the US. Kneecap has enjoyed a much further reach in recent months after their self-titled film was recognized by Sundance film festival . The film received an astounding 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While the group admitted they were rookies to the film world, they were praised for their choices of films in the comment section of the video. Other mentions included In Bruges starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, My Left Foot starring Daniel Day Lewis, and Hunger, the Bobby Sands movie starring Michael Fassbender, who also starred in the Kneecap movie.

Moglaí Bap earned more laughter from his bandmates after struggling to say Aretha Franklin's name and admitting, "English is my second language."
