Kayti Edwards, the ex-girlfriend and former assistant of Friends actor Matthew Perry , has opened up about his deep fear of needles amidst calls for an expanded investigation into his passing.

Shocking revelations last week claimed that Perry was injected numerous times with substances in his final days . In a candid talk with The Mirror US , 47-year-old Kayti recounted how Perry profoundly feared needles , expressing concern over him potentially injecting anything that he believed to be fatally risky.

"This is the weird thing to me... Matthew always, always told me that he would never, ever, use needles or inject anything into his body. He didn't even want to have tattoos," she disclosed.

She witnessed him under the influence often, employing various drugs. Kayti repeatedly cautioned him against the dangerous drug cocktails : "I would often see him very high and using lots of different drugs. I would always get so scared, and tell him that he had to stop mixing all this stuff, saying 'you're gonna die.' But he was like...'You only die when you use needles...and I would never, ever, ever do that,'" she recounted.

Edwards dated Perry back in 2006 and later worked as his assistant, maintaining a friendship with him until his sad demise at age 54, in October 2023. She shared her concerns with The Mirror US regarding the strange circumstances surrounding his death, given his longstanding aversion to needles.

"When I heard that he let his assistant do it, I just couldn't understand, especially as he had no medical training," she stated, highlighting the oddity of the situation.

She's questioning why there was no evidence of drug use at the scene.

"If you have given him a big shot, there would be a needle and evidence of ketamine in the house. Where did it all go? Why did the assistant shoot him up with all those drugs and leave," she queries. "I always stayed with Matthew if he was taking drugs as I didn't want him to OD, or anything to happen. I could call 911. But why wasn't his assistant there."

After an investigation, on August 15, The Department of Justice declared the arrest of five individuals linked to Perry's untimely demise. Those charged include Perry's live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa; doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez; intermediaries like Erik Flemming; and Jasveen Sangha, known as "The Ketamine Queen."

"They knew what they were doing was wrong. They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr. Perry but they did it anyway," commented United States Attorney Martin Estrada.

DEA chief Anne Milgram disclosed that Perry sought extra ketamine from these defendants after his clinic refused to increase his dose. Perry, who was using ketamine infusions for anxiety and depression, was devastatingly found deceased in a hot tub at his residence on October 28, 2023.

His death was due to "acute effects of ketamine," per the Los Angeles medical examiner's report.
