Irish detective series starring Cillian Murphy castmate and Jason Bourne star hitting US streamer soon

An Irish detective series will soon debut in the US . Borderline follows puritanical detective inspector Philip Boyd from Northern Ireland and his foul-mouthed Republic of Ireland counterpart, detective inspector Aoife Regan.

The pair aren't best pleased about working alongside each other, but are forced to put their personal and professional differences aside to solve the brutal murder cases of victims on both sides of the border.

Amy De Bhrun plays Aoife, who played Steph Corbett in Seasons 5 and 6 of BBC drama Line of Duty, featuring Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar. She also appeared in 2016's Jason Bourne film and will next appear in the Cillian Murphy-led film Small Things Like These , which has been headed up by Murphy's own production company.

The cast includes Eoin Macken as Philip. Macken is best known for playing Doc in the 2016 "Resident Evil" film "The Final Chapter" as well as Gavin in "La Brea," which ran on NBC for three seasons from 2021 to 2024.

"When both are forced to work together to solve a serious crime, Detective Inspector Philip Boyd of the PSNI - straitlaced, teetotal, reactionary Presbyterian -finds himself working alongside his Garda counterpart, Detective Inspector Aoife Regan - foul-mouthed, and unapologetically gay ," writes IMDb.

"They rarely agree on anything and get off to a rocky start, but, whether they like it or not, they have crimes to solve - and unexpectedly begin to form a formidable crime-fighting duo ."

Borderline, filmed in Co Louth , is heading to the Roku Channel for its US premiere on September 1 and will premiere in the UK and Ireland on MGM+ on September 2.

Meanwhile, movie buffs got a sneak peek of Cillian Murphy's Small Things Like These which has just wrapped filming. The Oscar-winner will return to the big screen with Steve , a reimagining of Max Porter's best-selling novel, Shy.

The movie follows a day in the life of headteacher Steve , played by the Cork actor, as he his and pupils fight to keep their UK reform school open. Co-star Jay Lycurgo, in contrast, plays a self-destructive teen struggling with violence.
