Coldplay enthusiasts got a sneak peek of the band's forthcoming gigs at Croke Park when lead singer Chris Martin put on an unexpected performance in Dublin city centre on Wednesday evening.

Whispers had been circulating around Dublin that the band might do a busking session on Grafton Street before they start their four-night run at the GAA HQ on Thursday, with some of music's biggest names also in attendance .

A large crowd gathered near St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, and fans were not let down when Martin showed up around 8.30pm.

Martin was the sole band member present, accompanied by bodyguards, a swarm of cameras and Garda as he made his way to the top of Grafton Street.

The Coldplay lead singer was joined by Burna Boy, Tini, Elyanna and Little Simz, with the foursome performing their recently released collaboration We Pray.

The surprise gig consisted of just one song and lasted about 20 minutes, with fans posting footage of the spontaneous concert online.

For those who weren't lucky enough to witness the surprise performance on Grafton Street, fans can relive the unforgettable moment as official footage from the performance will be exclusively available on Coldplay's (@coldplay) TikTok.

Martin's appearance on Grafton Street occurred just hours after he visited Dun Laoghaire, where he was spotted chatting with locals .

Coldplay has thrilled Irish fans with an Instagram video showing the lead singer having a scenic walk along Dun Laoghaire Pier, and later chatting with local talent, busker Gerry.

Echoing the heartfelt encounter, the caption on their official account reads: "So happy to be in Dublin. Pleasure to meet you, Gerry."

In town for their four fully booked gigs at Croke Park's vast 82,000-seater stadium, Coldplay's return to Dublin is part of the massively successful Music of The Spheres World Tour. The tour has already hit record ticket sales, with over 10 million people snapping up tickets, making it the highest-attended tour ever recorded.
