Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are eyeing up a massive payday at the FedEx Cup finale at East Lake this weekend, with a whopping $100 million prize fund on offer.

Both Irish golfers have secured their spots in the prestigious event due to their season performances . McIlroy enters in 6th place, starting six shots off the pace at -4, while Scottie Scheffler leads at -10.

Lowry, hailing from Co Offaly , will begin his campaign at -3, as he eyes a wonderful payday , with the winner set to pocket an astonishing $25 million.

Ahead of the tournament, McIlroy expressed his weariness after a packed season, revealing that he nearly reached his 29th week of play, saying, "It would have been 29 if I hadn't pulled out of Travelers."

He added, "It's a lot. It just sort of added up."

While McIlroy is familiar with East Lake, having clinched the Tour Championship thrice in the past decade, Lowry is making his debut at the event. Lowry shared his excitement, stating, "It's nice to be here," and reflecting on his long-awaited appearance, "It's almost embarrassing that I haven't been here... It's always a goal at the start of the year to be at East Lake and thankfully this year I got to fulfil it."

He also mentioned the novelty of the course for him, "Everybody keeps saying how different it is, but it's obviously just a new golf course for me, so I don't really know anything different, which is great."

"It's great to hear the lads moaning about it inside the locker room and I'm happy with what I see. It's going to play quite difficult. If you miss fairways you're going to struggle to make pars, and it's going to be hard to get the ball close to the pins."

"I think I'm on a level playing field with the guys that have played here... like Rory has played here something like 12 or 14 times. He's obviously won here three times."

"When you're coming back and it's the same venue they do have one up on you if it's the same golf course, but it's a completely different golf course. So I feel like I'm on a level playing field with those guys."
