Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to star opposite Anthony Hopkins in sci-fi thriller adaption of famous novel

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers will star opposite Anthony Hopkins in a sci-fi thriller about human being's fight for survival . The Irish actor will join the two-time Oscar-winner in a star-studded cast for the flick, which begins filming soon.

Rhys-Meyers, a Golden Globe winner best known for TV series The Tudors and movies like Match Point and August Rush, will feature in Eyes in the Trees, a reimagining of H.G. Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau .

Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann and Praya Lundberg will also make an appearance. The sure-fire hit follows a video journalist and his film crew who venture into an isolated forest.

The excursion descends into a fight for survival for the whole of humanity . Vince Henway (Meyers) and his former protégé-turned-ex Channing Arneau (Greene) lead their crew into the heart of Monkey Ko off the coast of Thailand.

'The Island of Death,' as it is known to locals, is awash with forgotten government medical experiments and scientific genetic manipulations lead by Dr. Addis (Hopkins).

They discover the stuff of nightmares on the island , and put their lives in severe danger by trying to thwart Dr. Addis’ plan to ‘regress mankind,’ killing the majority of earth’s human population.”

Rhys Meyers, 47, from Dublin , most recently starred opposite Antonio Banderas and Melissa Leo in The Clean Up Crew. Production on Eyes In The Trees is scheduled to begin in Thailand later this year.
