Oasis legends Liam and Noel Gallagher forced to sell mother's holiday home for heartbreaking reason

Oasis matriarch Peggy Gallagher has let go of her beloved holiday home in the west of Ireland , with sons Liam and Noel concerned about her wellbeing.

The brothers reportedly fretted over the 81-year-old staying solo in Charlestown, Co Mayo , particularly post-Covid, as there was no one nearby to look after her in case of an accident .

The Irish-born mom, who once travelled monthly from Manchester to cherish her Mayo retreat, found herself visiting less frequently as time went on , leaving the house empty for extended periods.

Recently sold for upwards of €300,000, the property is situated a mere three miles from the town centre . Peggy's presence in Charlestown dwindled over the years due to the lack of someone to chauffeur her.

A local told DublinLive: "In recent years we'd hardly see Peggy here. I suppose she is getting older and decided to sell up because she was not getting the use out of the house that she used to be."

"The Covid pandemic changed things for a lot of people including Peggy. The last thing you want is to be stuck in isolation with no one calling to your door to see you ."

The isolation risk and the sad reality of many old friends passing away , with most family in England, likely influenced her decision.

JJ went on: "I have no doubt Liam and Noel were worried about her being over in Ireland on her own and that probably made up her mind to sell."

It's been a few years since either Liam or Noel visited Charlestown, although their older brother Paul did make the trip alone to check on things .

The Gallagher brothers built a modern home on the site , equipped with high-tech cameras and gates, which is meticulously maintained.

A source commented: "Whoever bought it got a right bargain, fair play to them."

Local pub owner JJ Finan expressed that the locals were disappointed to see Peggy sell , but they completely understood her reasons.
