South Dublin locals were left gobsmacked when Hollywood star Steve Buscemi rushed to aid a man involved in a "vicious fight" outside a pub over the weekend. Buscemi, known for his roles in The Sopranos, Fargo, and Reservoir Dogs, is currently in Dublin filming Netflix's new series Wednesday. He's been seen around Dalkey recently and was dining at a local restaurant on Saturday evening.

Oisin Heavey, who was also dining at the restaurant, told the Irish Independent that nobody recognized the 66-year-old actor while he was eating. However, as Buscemi left, Heavey noticed a disturbance outside.

He said: "We could see there were loads of people outside, kind of looking up towards where he had gone, so we assumed he was spotted. When we went outside, there was actually a very vicious fight going on, and that's what everybody was looking at.", reports Dublin Live .

Heavey added that the Boardwalk Empire star remained unnoticed during the brawl but did attempt to assist a man who had been knocked down. "He was very close to it, but he held himself back from breaking it up," he said.

"He stood over the guy on the ground for a few seconds, and the fight naturally broke up after that. Some people said he broke up the fight, but he didn't. He tried to help, which is more than most people would do."

Buscemi was injured after stepping into a bar brawl in North Carolina back in 2001. He sustained injuries to his head and neck, as well as defensive wounds on his hands after being assaulted with a knife at the Firebelly Lounge in Wilmington while shooting for Domestic Disturbance.

Student Timothy Fogerty was later handed a 180-day sentence for the assault, despite Mr Buscemi's plea to the judge not to impose a straight sentence, expressing his wish for Fogarty to receive assistance with potential substance abuse and mental health issues.
