On the set of The Deliverance, a dog tragically passed away and other canines were taken ill during the shoot.

Lee Daniels, the creative force behind the new Netflix horror flick, admitted to experiencing a series of eerie occurrences during production that led him to hold prayer circles. Speaking to Sirius XM, he revealed some unsettling incidents that unfolded while filming.

"My sister is in every move that I've ever done as my good luck charm and she was in the [chemotherapy] scene [...] two days later, after being in the chemo scene, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Literally. My dog died on the set."

The sorrowful events didn't stop there - Mo'Nique, who portrayed a social worker, ended up in hospital during the shoot. The comedian opened up about her health scares: "We're outside. It was just, the demon was supposed to be on top of the building, so they kept blowing this.."

"I mean, at one point I'm like: 'Lee, do we have to? Because I can't breathe,' so when I got finished, my thyroid was a big...I mean, it was just sick. Oh baby. I was like: 'What is this? ' It was a lot of things happening with The Deliverance."

Director Lee Daniels took extraordinary measures to counter any negativity during his latest project due to eeriness on set, including having a prayer circle. Sharing his experience, Daniels confessed: "Things happen and I was not gonna let things happen on my set, and also I needed it for me. Even with that, there were still things that happened on set [...]".

The chiller, The Deliverance, premiered on Netflix on 30 August, featuring a cast of stars including Andra Day, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, Mo'Nique, and Glenn Close.

Detailing the plot, Netflix's summary indicates: "A woman moves her family to a new home for a fresh start - but something evil already lives there. A Lee Daniels film inspired by terrifying true events."
