Netflix sensation Kaos cast member who plays Orpheus in hit show was forced to change his name

A star of Netflix hit Kaos was told name is a bit too similar to another beloved Irish actor , prompting him to change it.

Killian Scott currently stars as Orpheus in the Netflix series Kaos, a modern retelling of ancient Greek mythology . Fans are raving about the show , though it's still unclear if it will get a second season.

The actor from Dublin has been performing in movies and television for years, but his new role has catapulted him into the limelight. He revealed to RadioTimes how he approached the role of Orpheus by inserting himself into the shoes of the famous story.

He said: "Like, what is the reality of gods? Do I believe as Orpheus does? Are they real? It was more kind of, what is the environment we're in?"

Who is Killian Scott?

Scott grew up in Sandmount, Dublin, the youngest of six children to parents Eoghan Murphy and Colin Murphy. He performed in school plays when he was young and went on to study at the Drama Centre in London.

When he became a professional actor, he had to change his name. His birth name is actually Cillian Damien Murphy, which is obviously too similar to that of Cillian Murphy , star of Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders.

He told the Irish Independent: "A very famous and wonderful actor called Cillian Murphy happened to become an actor before I arrived. It's my given name and birth name, Cillian Murphy, but I had to change it."

"I was in a play and had to change my name so it could be put on the poster. Otherwise, Cillian Murphy might have arrived down to give out to me, which I didn't need. I changed the 'C' to a 'K' for pronunciation reasons."

Scott first had his big break in Love/Hate, a gangster drama series that follows the Dublin criminal underworld. (Coincidentally, he plays a gangster named Tommy. In Peaky Blinders, Cillian Murphy also plays a gangster named Tommy.)

He also recently started in Marvel’s Secret Invasion, which is streaming on Disney+.
