Netflix fans 'frustrated' over Twilight animated series after major announcement

Twihards are both ecstatic and anxious with news that the beloved Twilight saga is being reborn. Netflix has made the big reveal, announcing: "Midnight Sun, an animated series adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel and the retelling of Twilight from Edward Cullen's perspective, is officially in development."

While the novel dropped back in August 2020 without a hint of a screen adaptation, devotees now eagerly await the release date for the fresh interpretation on the streaming service.

Despite the excitement, concerns bubble on X, as fans fear Netflix might mishandle the new Twilight reimagining . Skeptics are voicing their doubts, with one remarking: "Can't wait for you to cancel it after one season," while another throws in their quip: "Will you cancel after 4 eps or on a cliffhanger? Suckers, sorry, your viewers, want to know."

With a track record of prematurely ending popular series, Netflix has left viewers frustrated; one disgruntled fan spelled out their irritation on Reddit: "Every time I start a Netflix show and get into it and watch the 1-2 maybe 3 (rarely 3) seasons look up when the next season is coming anndddd the show was canceled. Like I can name so many off the top of my head. The order, daredevil, fate winx saga, Santa Clarita diet, I am not ok with this, the society, the midnight club just to name a few. It's just so frustrating."

However, some fans think it wouldn't be such a problem for Netflix's 'Midnight Sun' adaptation to wrap up after one season. They highlight that since there's only one book from Edward's perspective, "they probably only have about a season worth of material to produce," reports the Mirror US .

During the original run, not all fans were impressed with the decision to split the single 'Breaking Dawn' book into two films. One viewer expressed: "It should only have one season. Anymore would be dragging it out."

Yet, there's a chance Netflix could drum up extra inspiration for another season. 'Midnight Sun' retells only the events of the first 'Twilight' book and if author Stephanie Meyer ventures into writing sequels, tackling episodes in 'New Moon' where Edward is conspicuously absent, the animated series might find itself extended.
