A video of a young Cillian Murphy , the star of Oppenheimer, has resurfaced showing him with a strong Cork accent as he talks about his love for music in his hometown.

Before making it big in Hollywood, the 47-year-old actor was part of a band called The Sons of Mr Green Genes.

As the clip circulates online , fans have been commenting on Murphy's thick Co Cork accent.

In the video, the Peaky Blinders star speaks passionately about the genre-bending and non-conforming music his band used to play.

The video of the young Co Cork man has sparked a lot of comments. One Reddit user humorously said: "Trying to imagine Oppenheimer with a Cork accent now. Now I am become death - Destroyer of worlds, bai." Another commented: "Big Irish head on him."

Meanwhile, a YouTube user remarked: "It's a pity he's lost that beautiful southern accent, taken on a northern twang nowadays."

Murphy's band was once offered a record deal. However, it's clear that the actor made the right career choice, as he has enjoyed massive success both on TV and in films.

Murphy played the rhythm guitar in the band. The group named itself after a song on Frank Zappa's album Hot Rats. During an interview with Lamacq, Murphy shared: "I played in bands in my teens and then when I was about 18 or 19, we were offered a deal and it didn't work out. But you remember bands like the James Taylor Quartet, Corduroy and Galliano?

"We were kind of into those bands and combining that with Zappa and a lot of funk and soul and that kind of stuff. So that's what we were listening to and that really influenced the sound: there was a lot of instrumental music and a lot of excessively long guitar solos and stuff like that."
