    Netflix horror film praised by Stephen King while fans admit it will make your skin ‘crawl’

    A movie on Netflix is perfect for the upcoming Halloween season , but based on reviews it is not for the faint-hearted .

    The Autopsy of Jane Doe was recently added to the streaming platform , and it should be added to the watchlist of every horror fan . Released in 2016, the film stars Brian Cox, of Succession fame, as a small town corner who encounters strange happenings when working with a body.

    The movie comes from Norwegian director André Øvredal, who’s known for Trollhunter, The Last Voyage of the Demeter. It also stars Emile Hirsch, Ophelia Lovibond, and Irish actor Michael McElhatton.

    Cox plays Tommy Tilden, who, along with his son Austine (Hirsch), is tasked with determining the cause of death for an unknown woman. She was found at the scene of a mysterious multiple homicide, and the coroners soon come to find supernatural clues about her death.

    It has an 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with high praise from viewers for its unpredictable plot. Horror legend Stephen King even enjoyed the movie, tweeting that the “visceral horror” rivals “ALIEN and early Cronenberg”.

    Other reviews commend the film for its nightmarish scenes.

    Donald Clarke of the Irish Times penned: “Fans of the genre will rejoice in the rare sight of a new king of threat. They will celebrate further at the director’s success in satisfactorily exploiting a challenging premise.”

    Erick Estrada of Cinegarage wrote: “In this horror story much closer in spirit to Stephen King’s novels than to cheap horror films, Øvredal makes us feel and live with his revenge nightmare that which others, (particularly women) have lived and felt.”

    Jason Adams of My New Plaid Pants said: “It redefines gooseflesh. “Hell your scalp will crawl right off you and into the seat beside you and then demand some of your popcorn, if you let it”
