Meghan Markle has hit another bump in the road with the launch of her lifestyle brand , American Riviera Orchard.

The Duchess of Sussex is planning to debut her new venture early next year, alongside a new Netflix show linked to the project.

However, American Riviera Orchard has stumbled upon a trademark hiccup as the US Patent and Trademark Office has rejected Meghan's latest application .

The issue appears to be with the company's logo. The 'O' in the logo was flagged by the US Patent and Trademark Office, who stated that its "description is inconsistent with the mark on the drawing".

"Descriptions must be accurate and identify only those literal and design elements appearing in the mark," the official "non-final action" document from the US Patent and Trademark Office read.

The document, which was obtained by the Daily Mail, went on to say: "In particular, the current mark description indicates that the letter 'O' appears in the mark. However, the letter is now clearly visible or highly stylized that it is unrecognizable as a letter."

"Furthermore, the description is incomplete because it does not describe all the elements in the mark."

    The document suggested some amendments.

"The following description is suggested, if accurate: The mark consists of a double lined octagon enclosing the stylized and overlapping letters 'AR' and incorporating decorative and looping lines. The latter 'A' contains a stylized flower at the top of the letter," the statement continued.

Meghan has faced other issues with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Her trademark application was previously denied because the office doesn't allow businesses to trademark geographic locations.

American Riviera is the nickname for the area of Montecito where Meghan lives with her husband Prince Harry. A source has suggested Meghan's teams are now picking their brains for an alternative name.

They suggested Meghan could make a move similar to Kim Kardashian and change the name of her business after it's launched. "The team are thinking of backups as we speak just in case," they told The Express.

They added: "They've been put into a bit of a last-minute spin but they're not too worried because they are aware that Kim K also changed her brand name after launch and it still did amazingly well."

Following a recent setback, it has been reported that Meghan felt "humiliated" after supposedly being "rejected" by Kris Jenner. Closer Magazine cited a source saying: "Kris has a lot on her plate, but ultimately people can't help but wonder if she's dropped them because she's seen the disastrous opinion polls on the Sussexes."

Elaborating further, they commented: "No doubt they [Harry and Meghan] felt they were lowering their standards a little by associating with the Kardashians, so to end up being rejected by them is a pretty big blow. Meghan had eventually come around to the idea and was excited to be working with Kardashians."
