Queen Elizabeth would be 'terribly upset' by Royal Family's 'double whammy' of bad news

Throughout her 96 years, Queen Elizabeth II was a steadfast and comforting figure for both the nation and the Royal family . Despite the world's constant changes - from natural disasters and global conflicts to technological advances and significant discoveries - Her late Majesty remained a pillar of stability and reassurance .

However, even the Queen acknowledged that she wouldn't be around forever. Just four months before her passing, she predicted imminent change , confessing: "I have lived long enough to know things never remain quite the same for very long. Events and situations change with startling speed."

Since her death on September 8, 2022, the Royal family has faced numerous challenges, including a bitter feud between Prince's William and Harry, as well as cancer diagnoses for King Charles and the Princess of Wales. These two diagnoses would have been of great concern to the Queen, who, like any loving parent and grandmother, would want the best for her family.

"It was a double whammy of bad news affecting two of those closest to her, so it would have upset her terribly had she still been alive," Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe told OK!

"But I think she would have been extremely proud of how they've both handled things. The Queen always had that 'keep calm and carry on' work ethic, and we've really seen that continue with the King. He has kept going, and you get the impression he's been doing as much as he physically can. I wonder if his doctors might privately be a bit annoyed that he hasn't rested as much as he could have," reports the Mirror .

Echoing Duncan, Royal author Andrew Morton added: "It's been very difficult for the Royal Family just to keep going, because so many of them have been seriously ill and are seriously ill. King Charles has not been a particularly lucky monarch so far."

Despite his hospitalization at the beginning of the year originally to deal with an enlarged prostate, both King Charles and Queen Camilla had thrown themselves into their Royal responsibilities, embarking on a variety of international visits to jump-start Charles monarchy.

These Royal duties included a historic state visit to Germany in March 2023 when Charles was the first British monarch to give a speech to the Bundestag. The Royal couple also visited Romania, Kenya, and Dubai and were involved in several important home engagements, hosting global figures such as US President Joe Biden .

However, by January 2024, the intense pace proved too much for the King when he had to withdraw from public life temporarily to receive treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer discovered following his earlier hospital admission. Kate Middleton also went public with her own cancer struggle just a few months later, disclosing that she was getting treatment for an unnamed type of cancer.

The royals have been facing tough times recently, what with Princess Anne ending up in hospital after falling from her horse and Sarah Ferguson finding out she had skin cancer only a year after her breast cancer fight, putting them all under a shadow of concern.

Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond has hinted at how hard this period must have been for the Queen.

"It would have been a great shock for Elizabeth to witness the difficulties of the past few months, and she would obviously have been deeply upset by her son and her granddaughter-in-law suffering from cancer," Bond said, pointing out that until her passing, the Queen had believed her family's future monarchs were fit and well.

"I think William, in particular, would have found his grandmother's presence reassuring and she would have given him wise counsel. I suspect she would have told him to do exactly what he is doing: putting his family first until things improve."
