Despite these achievements, some skeptics question Scott's impact, leading to his biting comeback to one naysayer on social media earlier this month . Seasoned caddie Kip Henley jokingly offered on X last week: "I will pay @jtedscott 1.5 million dollars to let me caddie for him next year. That's risky but I think it's a solid plan. Teddy Boy can sit on the couch and not have to worry about stepping in a hole and spranging an ankle. That's fair."
The satirical post led to a witty back-and-forth when a social media user remarked: "Caddie' is the most overrated 'job' in history. There are literally 10M people in the US that could do Ted's job," reports the Mirror .
Scott, not one to ignore such comments, responded with a sharp comeback: "Wrong. Not everyone would want to spend time with you because you're negative and tweet mean stuff. So that leaves 9,999,999 people that could do my 'job'."
Caddies usually get a weekly salary for their efforts on the course, but they can also earn a cut of the prize money if their player wins a tournament. Scott is estimated to have made a whopping $5,269,444 (£4million) this season, thanks to Scheffler's outstanding performances - including wins at high-profile tournaments like The Masters and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which are believed to have earned the caddie over $360,000 each.
After Scheffler's recent victory at the TOUR Championship, it's reported that he added a staggering $25,000,000 (£19,079,745) to his wealth, from which Scott is said to have taken a handsome ten percent, or about $2.5m (£1.9m). If these numbers hold true, Scott's £ 4 million earnings for 2024 would surpass golf icon Tiger Woods for the PGA Tour season, as well as more than 200 other professional golfers, ranking him an impressive 19th among the sport's highest earners.
