'Queen of Doomsday' invests $20k to prep for World War III

A mom-of-three and self-professed "doomsday prepper" has spent thousands to future-proof her home against potential calamities.

With the scars of the pandemic, threats of international warfare , and brewing tensions in the US, this proactive parent is pulling out all the stops to shield her family. Krystal, the preparedness enthusiast , has been fortifying her home over the last 10 years with a cache that includes medical and electrical supplies, enough food to feed her family for 365 days, and emergency protective gear.

In total, she's spent upwards of $20,000 in the process.

On a recent feature on YouTube's Truly V, Krystal shared her reasons: "I prep for anything, whether the grid were to collapse and the power turns off, if there's another pandemic, civil war, civil unrest or World War Three. We always prepare for the worst case scenario and we always hope for the best case scenario."

Alongside her devoted husband Derek, their three children are learning hands-on what it means to be prepared. Her grandparents passed down vital skills growing and preserving food which she now imparts to her own kids while also dispensing prepping tips online.

On TikTok, she's hit viral fame, amassing more than 2.5 million likes as 'The Queen of Doomsday.'

Krystal's current aim is to gather enough supplies for five years of survival, with her next goal being to live "completely off grid". She grows vegetables in her garden and preserves them.

She keeps her regular pantry separate from her emergency supplies, and if she ever uses anything from her 'Doomsday' kit, she quickly replaces it.

Her three children - Lilah, Kaylie and Colton - "love" and "thrive" knowing what to do in an emergency, according to Krystal. The mum insists that her preparation isn't all about "doom and gloom."

"Civil unrest is one of the many reasons we prep. Here in the USA we've seen riots and protests increase overtime and it's just not something that we want to put our family in or around."

Krystal added: "My husband always thought it was a little extreme."

Her husband Derek said: "My opinion changed around the pandemic - seeing the chaos. This is a skill that we need to pass down to our kids, colleagues, friends etc."

Many people have praised Krystal's preparedness. One YouTube user commented: "This is called adulting. We all need to do a bit of this."

"She's the most sane and wisest person," another viewer remarked. Then, another added: "It's quite impressive, as long as they don't turn it into obsession and still have time to live in the present moment without worrying too much about the future."
