The case of a Florida woman, accused of murdering her husband and burying him in their backyard, took a shocking twist when her 15 year old daughter confessed to shooting her father when she was just seven.

Florida police discovered the remains of Laurie Shaver's husband, Micheal Shaver, under a concrete slab on their property in March 2018. The authorities were alerted to Micheal's disappearance a month earlier when a friend reported he hadn't heard from him since 2015.

Investigators claim Laurie hid her husband's death by taking over his text and Facebook messages after his murder .

Police deemed Laurie's account of events as not credible, stating it didn't add up. In a surprising turn of events, Laurie's lawyer told the court that his client did not kill Micheal and revealed two others were involved, including her daughter, who was only seven at the time, who admitted to shooting her father.

The daughter is reportedly ready to testify in defence of her mother. The jury, consisting of three men and three women, were seated just after 3 p.m. this afternoon, listening to the opening statements from both sides.

"Evidence suggests the defendant gradually got rid of Michael Shavers' property. She sold his expensive tools, his guns. She knew Michael was never coming back. She knew Michael Shaver was dead," Prosecutor Rich Buxman said. Defence attorney Jeffrey Wiggs appeared to paint Micheal as an abusive husband who likely left Laurie no choice but to defend herself.

"Mr. Shaver, you will hear, was very possessive. He was very combative. He was very destructive. He imposed fear in his family over and over again," Wiggs said.

The first witness spoke to the court Monday. The trial was slated for two weeks, but is expected to wrap up sooner.

Micheal and Laurie were known to have a shaky, on and off marriage with frequent explosive arguments. The verbal spats always seemed to escalate to the pair threatening each other with guns, according to court records.

Micheal's family and friends were unaware of his disappearance thanks to Laurie secretly taking over his Facebook Messenger and other social media accounts to make them think he was alive , court documents say. Laurie, a mother of four, wasted no time finding a new man with whom she had two children.

She tied the knot with her new beau, Travis Filmer, in 2016. In 2018, authorities approached Laurie on her property, requesting to speak with Micheal who was reported missing.

According to an affidavit, the mother informed the police that her ex-partner had suddenly left her and their children. Days later, officials came back with a warrant and brought K-9 units to search the property, which led them to discover Micheal's remains under a fire pit.
