    Little boy, 5, left in hospital after being 'put in chokehold' by teacher at New York City elementary school

    A young boy was allegedly put in a "chokehold" by a teacher at an elementary school in New York City . The shocking incident allegedly took place at PS 153 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Elementary School around 1.30pm on Monday.

    It is believed the five-year-old was put in a chokehold - when a tight grip is placed around a person's neck, causing them to be restrained or their breathing to be restricted - at the Upper Manhattan school.

    The hurt child was sent to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, according to the New York Post. The extent of the boy's injuries, and his current condition, is not known.

    The teacher, Anthony Wicks, aged 46, was taken into custody and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child , police said. It is not yet clear what sparked the alleged assault.

    Meanwhile, in a separate school incident in Georgia, it has been revealed that Apalachee school shooter Colt Gray will be tried as an adult after 'killing four' and injuring 30 including special ed teacher.

    Tragedy struck at Apalachee High School when a 14-year-old student at the school named Colt Grey unleashed chaos in the school .

    The school in Barrow County was gripped by in terror as the teen embarked on a violent spree, killing four and injuring 30 . The shooter has since been detained, confirmed by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.
