Prince Harry has shared his brother William's response to the news that Meghan Markle was pregnant with their first child.

Despite the recent strain in their relationship , the two royals were on good terms when Meghan and Harry discovered she was expecting their son Archie. They chose to share their joyous news on the same day as their cousin Princess Eugenie's wedding in October 2018.

Prince Harry discussed the moment in his memoir Spare , writing: "Euge was getting married, to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her, and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favorite people.

"Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding. Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news."

He added: "After the drinks reception, in St George's Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate. She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I'd hoped," reports the Mirror .

Harry also shared the heartwarming moment when he told his father, King Charles, about the upcoming addition to their family. He remembered: "He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time, his wide smile warmed me."

However, in Spare, Harry didn't just share this tender moment but also took shots at the Royal family, including his brother William, whom he referred to as both his "beloved brother" and his "archnemesis."

In one part of the book, he claimed that William had physically assaulted him during a disagreement over Meghan. This alleged incident happened at Harry's London residence - Nottingham Cottage - in 2019, where William confronted him about "the whole rolling catastrophe" of their relationship and conflicts with the media.

The brothers' argument escalated when William criticized Meghan, specifically labeling her as "difficult," "rude" and "abrasive."

"He put down the water, insulted me, then lunged at me. It all unfolded so quickly. So very quickly," Harry penned. "He grabbed me by the collar, tearing my necklace, and he knocked me to the ground. I landed on the dog's bowl, which shattered under my weight, the fragments digging into me. I lay there for a moment, stunned, then got up and ordered him to leave."

According to Harry, William encouraged him to retaliate, but when he declined, William left only to return "looking remorseful, and apologized". William also urged Harry not to tell Meghan about the assault, according to the Duke, which he didn't do right away. Instead, he reached out to his therapist.
