Kristina Joksimovic, 38, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was found dead in her home in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland, in February this year. Her husband, Thomas, accused of "pureeing" her body in a blender, confessed to her murder.

Kristina Joksimovic, 38, was discovered lifeless in her residence in Binningen, close to Basel, Switzerland, earlier this year in February. The ex-model was allegedly killed and "pureed" in a blender by her spouse , according to Swiss officials, despite one friend's claim they seemed like "the perfect couple".

As per local news source BZ Basel, Thomas, 41, had his plea for release from custody rejected by the Federal Court in Lausanne on Wednesday after he reportedly admitted to murdering his wife, with whom he shared two children.

The news outlet reported that he confessed to the crime during a reconstruction in March, claiming it was an act of self-defence when she attacked him with a knife.

He then dismembered her body after claiming he was in "a panic" after what had happened.

A friend told Blick, "To me, they seemed like the perfect family", although another said they had been "in crisis for months".

BZ Basel reported that the court's ruling stated Ms Joksimovic was strangled to death. An autopsy report included in the ruling revealed that Ms Joksimovic's body was dismembered in a laundry room using a jigsaw, knife and garden shears.

The report further added that body parts were then chopped up with a hand blender, "pureed" and dissolved in a chemical solution.

Thomas, a Swiss citizen, was reportedly taken into custody a day after her remains were discovered by an unrelated party, as reported by the German language news outlet Blick.

Investigators claimed Thomas showed a "lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness after killing his wife" and that he had "'sadistic-sociopathic traits".

Christa Rigozzi, former Miss Switzerland, told 20 Minuten: "It's terrible. I'm really shocked. I'm thinking of her two daughters. She was such a beautiful and kind-hearted woman."

Does any Court with such a horrible murder even give a swift death penalty anymore?
