Mac & cheese sold at Walmart and Target recalled in 5 states - here’s where

A mac and cheese brand has been recalled in five states, so shoppers may want to check their pantries.

Reser’s Fine Foods recalled its regular and white cheddar macaroni and cheese products, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. It's a part of a larger recall of Reser products due to concerns of potential spoilage.

Reser’s pulled products from stores in California , Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The macaroni and cheese is sold at Walmart , Target, Safeway, and Stop & Shop.

The spoilage may have occurred from a malfunctioning refrigerator on a trailer, the FDA said.

The regular macaroni and cheese products have a use by date of Sept. 14 and Sept. 16, 2024. The white cheddar macaroni and cheese has a use by date of Sept. 11, 2024.

The larger recall was initiated on July 29. It includes other products like potato salads, scalloped potatoes, pasta salads, corn, egg salads, gravy, spinach dip and desserts.

its classification was changed to a “Class II” on Sept. 3. That level of recall indicates using the recalled product can cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” according to the FDA.

Food without proper refrigeration can have dangerous bacteria like salmonella or E. coli.

A spokesperson for Reser’s Fine Foods told Fox Business: ““The recall was initiated on 7/29/24 and no affected products ever made it to the [store] shelves. Any items purchased from stores are safe to consume.”
