    Bridesmaids star sitting on massive goldmine - filings reveal

    Hollywood actor and Roscommon native, Chris O'Dowd, is sitting pretty on a cash pile of nearly €900,000 following a successful year for his TV production company , Hot Cod Productions Limited, as revealed by recently filed accounts.

    The 44-year-old star, known for his role in Bridesmaids, established Hot Cod Productions Limited in 2009 after his breakthrough role as Roy Trenneman in the hit comedy series, The IT Crowd.

    Since then, he's starred in box office successes such as This is 40, Calvary, and The Program, and also created and acted in the Sky TV series, Moone Boy, set in his hometown of Boyle.

    2023 proved to be the most profitable year yet for his production company, adding $706,884 to its cash reserves and more than doubling its accumulated profits to almost $833,880.

    O'Dowd is both a director and the sole shareholder of the UK-based company. Currently residing in London after a stint in California , the actor recently mentioned that he could "totally see" himself moving back to Boyle, reports the Irish Mirror .

    The latest accounts for Hot Cod Productions Limited reveal that it was owed $ 203,197 by debtors at the end of last year, while $327,176 remained payable to creditors. The company had no employees during the financial year.

    As of December 31, the company boasted cash reserves of $990,267 having started 2023 with a balance of around $283,166. The company concluded the accounting period with accumulated profits of $830,223

    The comedian had a starring role in the RTE One drama, The Clinic, and appeared alongside Kerry Katona in Showbands, before securing a significant part in The IT Crowd. He made his big screen debut in Gulliver's Travels in 2010, and starred opposite Sienna Miller in Hippie Hippie Shake the same year.

    O'Dowd has been nominated for IFTA awards for acting, writing and directing, and received a Tony Award nomination following his Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men in 2014.

    Before launching his successful acting career, he represented Roscommon in Gaelic football at under-16, minor, and under-21 levels, making it to the final of the Connacht Minor Football Championship in 1997.

    He is married to Scottish writer, director and TV presenter, Dawn O'Porter, and they have two sons together.
