Georgia mom killed outside Spalding County courthouse by 'stalker husband' who then 'shot himself' after divorce hearing

A Georgia sheriff has addressed rumours that a mother, who was fatally shot by her husband after a court hearing, was refused an escort.

Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix provided fresh details on Saturday about the courthouse vicinity shooting that resulted in a woman's death and a man's injury. The incident has sparked claims of a cover-up by the Sheriff's Office.

In a detailed Facebook post, Dix expressed his frustration: "I've tried to answer several questions on different posts and each time I'm accused of being a liar, arguing with the family, making my deputies out as victims, covering up, or belittling what happened," he stated. "I've said I couldn't comment on it, but with all that's going on, I am."

Dix recounted that after leaving a court session, Mr. and Mrs. Mallory entered separate vehicles. Mr. Mallory then drove alongside his wife's car and shot multiple times into her vehicle through his passenger window, resulting in fatal injuries for Mrs. Mallory.

Following the gunfire, deputies chased Mr. Mallory's vehicle, which did not immediately stop. When he eventually pulled over, he inflicted a gunshot wound to his head but survived, Dix disclosed, reports the Mirror US .

The sheriff emphasised that the authorities did everything within their power and debunked the rumour that Mrs. Mallory had requested an escort, revealing that the originator of the rumour confessed to fabricating it.

"Clerks in the Magistrate Office were asked, not a Deputy, and a Deputy was never requested by anyone to escort her," the Sheriff penned. "Video from the lobby shows that as Mrs. Mallory walked through the lobby, she passed Deputies and did not ask for assistance either."

Sheriff Dix described the Mallory's marriage as fraught with conflict, noting the Sheriff's Office had been called to their home numerous times, with both partners alleging the other instigated the disputes. Dix mentioned that the couple had been informed about available support and counselling services.

"This was by all definitions a toxic relationship," Dix remarked. Often it was impossible to identify the main instigator, leading to no arrests, although Mr. Mallory was detained once but managed to secure release on bond.

"This is a horrible thing that happened and people are emotional and angry about it," the sheriff expressed. "No one is blaming Mrs. Mallory for what happened to her. We have to take facts and evidence and weigh them against the law in order to act. This is a horrible thing that happened and people are emotional and angry about it."

    Sir Maurice
    now
Very unfortunate but this type of shit is happening everyday. Some couples love fighting with each other because it's a high for them... it releases dopamine and adrenaline and it becomes very addictive. That's another reason women go back! Condolences 🙏🏾💐🙏🏾
