Indianapolis Uber driver 'raped and killed passenger' after she insulted his body in 'revolting' attack

An Uber driver from Indianapolis has been arrested by police , accused of raping and subsequently murdering a passenger.

Francisco Valadez, 29, was taken into custody by homicide detectives on Tuesday morning and has been provisionally charged with murder.

Valadez confessed to the police that he shot 30-year-old Chanti Dixon dead in a fit of anger after attempting to rape her in the back of his car, having picked her up as an Uber driver , according to CBS4.com.

He then admitted to disposing of her body in an alleyway within a wooded area close to the victim's residence. Last week, police were called to Wagner Lane following the discovery of a woman's body in a nearby woodland.

Dixon's family managed to locate her phone in the woods behind her home , where they discovered her body and alerted the police. Dixon had been shot in the left side of her head and was declared dead at the scene.

Dixon's mother reported that her daughter went missing last Sunday after finishing work around 3.30am and ordering an Uber to take her home.

Two mobile phones were found near Dixon's body in the woodland, leading police to Valadez. Data from the Uber app revealed that Dixon's driver was operating a BMW with an Indiana license plate .

Detectives were able to identify Valadez as her driver and visited his home to question him. Initially, Valadez misled the police, claiming that an armed Black man had approached his car and attempted to rob Dixon.

However, upon further interrogation, he admitted to sexually assaulting her in the back of his vehicle. He confessed to the authorities that during the assault, she insulted his physique , which provoked him into a fit of rage.

This led him to shooting Dixon in the head. After the shooting, he dragged Dixon out of his car and left her lifeless body behind a concrete barrier at the dead end of Wagner Lane.

Valadez also confessed to attempting to have sex with Dixon's deceased body, according to the police. The Uber driver was taken into custody at Marion County Jail on a felony murder charge.

The police stated that additional charges could be expected in this case.

"This is revolting, it's unsettling," said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey during the press conference. " No one deserves to be treated this way in our community and I am deeply sorry to her family that we're here today.
