He's already been receiving rave reviews for his role as the Batman villain in The Penguin, now Colin Farrell's latest HBO offering is being hailed one of the station's best shows in years following last week's premiere.

Telly fans are all saying the same thing about the action-packed adventure that is now available to watch on Sky and NOW in the UK.

The show is already off to an incredible start with millions tuning in to catch the first episode - and another one this week.

Its premiere even trumped the first episode of the last season of Succession, on of HBO's biggest shows of all time. They bagged 5.3 millon cross-platform viewers in the US, not to mention those who watched globally.

Now it's on the path to becoming the most watched drama of 2024. Meanwhile Colin Farrell showed true dedication to his starring role, by getting rid of the ink to make one aspect of his life a little easier.

The Irish actor has been receiving rave reviews for his performance as the Batman villain in The Penguin. He was covered head-to-toe in prosthetic makeup for the role, which was a time consuming process .

He previously said in an interview with James Corden that his tattoos had to be covered up by makeup for various roles he’s played. That made his time in hair and makeup tirelessly long.

Without them, he doesn’t need to be in the makeup chair as early while on set.

“It buys me an extra 45 minutes sleep in the morning,” he said.

He revealed his tattoos didn’t have a lot of significance anyway, with his worst being one he got at 3 a.m. in New York. The process to get them removed left him sore, but it wasn’t as painful as getting tattooed in the first place.

The shorter the makeup job, the better. Farrell recently told TotalFilm that he was ready to be done with the grueling makeup process for The Penguin.

“By the end of it, I was -----ing and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I ----ing wanted it to be finished.”

The show was created by Lauren LeFranc, with the prosthetics and makeup done by Mike Marino. He knew going into the production that it would be intense, so while it was uncomfortable, it fabricated a powerful look.
