In a statement today, Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second child together.

They wrote: 'Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie, aged eight, and Sienna, aged three."

"His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The royal baby will be 11th in line to the throne, behind older sister Sienna and mother Beatrice. Princess Beatrice is stepmother to Mapelli Mozzi's son from his previous relationship with Dara Huang, Wolfe. 36-year-old Beatrice married millionaire property tycoon Mapelli Mozzi, 40, in July 2020. The baby is expected to arrive in early spring.

Beatrice is the eldest child of Prince Andrew the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson. The family has endured a turbulent year in the media, as the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew's alleged sex crimes continues. Princess Beatrice is said to be "heartbroken" and "sick of being humiliated" due to her father's ongoing scandal. Her likeness was depicted in A Very Royal Scandal, a new drama which dropped on Amazon Prime earlier this month.

Beatrice's mother, Sarah Ferguson, was also diagnosed with skin cancer last January - six months after being treated for breast cancer. In May Princess Beatrice said her mother had received the "all clear".
